Chadwick Radke

Apparent Age: Early Twenties
Occupation: Defender of the innocent, frat boy, social studies student at Harvard
Pronouns: He/him/his

The Radkes are a pretty big name in Boston, at least among the upper crust. Very wealthy, but known for being aggressively liberal. His mother, Mary Hallow-Radke, is a director/organizer for many well known local (and further reaching) charities, while his father, Augustine Radke, is a well known civil litigation lawyer that focuses on suing big corporations on behalf of those wronged or in need, or for charities. They pride themselves on how much they’ve helped the community over the years, and, honestly, they’re not afraid of shoving that fact into people’s faces.

Thankfully, Chad seems to have ended up a little more down to earth than his parents. He’s friendly, welcoming, and seems to genuinely love being surrounded by people and working with others. There’s no doubt that he’s a frat boy—he exudes that ‘bro’ attitude, and looks very much like a preppy jock, down to his neatly styled hair to his expensive casual wear and athletic body. At least that’s what his friends know of him, and anyone who bothers spending more than five minutes with him can come to discover. But the fact that he’s… strangely off-putting is hard to ignore. There’s just something that makes people recoil away from him, at first brush. Surely it’s nothing—not when his eyes seem so caring and his smile is so gentle. But occasionally the shadows play off his face eerily, or he stands in a way that is ominous and looming, his watchful gaze seeming to peel back layers to reveal all your darkest secrets and fears when it focuses on you. He also has some odd faint scars that wrap all the way around a limb joint here and there—shoulders, an elbow, a wrist, a knee or hip, etc. They’re jagged and oddly seam like. He usually keeps them covered, but occasionally someone can catch a glimpse.

Currently he’s going into his fourth year at Harvard, getting a bachelors degree in social studies—likely to follow in his parents’ footsteps. He’s very well known around campus as being a member of Sigma Chi. Active in frat life, though almost always as the mother hen that makes sure the other bros are staying in line and getting home safe, or organizing various community events or charities that the fraternity is tied to. He’s also on the football team—not the best athlete on the team by any means, but he seems to be well liked by his fellows, helping to keep the team motivated and driven.

Fame 1 (Local Hero). Lately he’s been marked as a hero in the local news and online, after saving a few people that were kidnapped from a PRIDE party and being involved in helping a handful of students that were assaulted on campus. He also started up an unofficial campus security program, using volunteers to help keep watch on campus and come to escort people places if they feel unsafe. His acts certainly are heroic, but it’s well known that he doesn’t like being treated like a hero. How humble.

Can I clear my conscience
If I’m different from the rest?
Do I have to run and hide? (oh, oh, oh, oh)
I never said that I want this,
This burden came to me,
And it’s made its home inside (oh, oh, oh, oh)
If I told you what I was,
Would you turn your back on me?
And if I seem dangerous,
Would you be scared?
I get the feeling just because,
Everything I touch isn’t dark enough
That this problem lies in me
I’m only a man with a candle to guide me,
I’m taking a stand to escape what’s inside me.
A monster, a monster,
I’ve turned into a monster,
A monster, a monster,
And it keeps getting stronger.

I’ll Be Good by Jaymes Young

I’ll be good, I’ll be good
And I’ll love the world, like I should
I’ll be good, I’ll be good
I’ll be good, I’ll be good
For all of the light that I shut out
For all of the innocent things that I’ve doubt
For all of the bruises that I’ve caused and the tears
For all of the things that I’ve done all these years
Yeah, for all of the sparks that I’ve stomped out
For all of the perfect things that I doubt

So when you’re weak
When you are on your knees
I’ll do my best, with the time, that’s left
Sworn with your spirit, you’re fully fleshed
So fuck your dreams
And don’t you pick at our seams
I’ll turn into a monster for you, If you pay me enough
None of this counts, a few dreams, plowed up
So we come
To a place of no return
Yours is the face, which makes my body burn
And here is the name, that our sons will learn:
Curse the beauty, curse the queen
Curse the beauty, leave me
